COAS General Munir Observes Indus Shield 2023 Aerial Exercise with Foreign Air Chiefs

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, welcomed by PAF chief Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu upon his arrival, visited a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) operational air base to observe the ongoing aerial exercise, Indus Shield 2023. Alongside foreign air chiefs from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Hungary, General Munir witnessed the joint training.

During his visit, General Munir received a comprehensive briefing on the Air Power Center of Excellence’s training facility and the exercise’s objective of enhancing modern concepts of aerial warfare, promoting cooperation, and improving interoperability among participating air forces. He was also introduced to foreign dignitaries and key staff officers of the Pakistan Air Force.

Addressing the exercise participants, COAS Munir highlighted the importance of multinational air exercises in the evolving landscape of air warfare. He commended the participants’ professionalism and expressed his gratitude to the Air Power Centre of Excellence for orchestrating this large-scale air exercise.

General Munir acknowledged the center’s role in producing highly skilled air warriors equipped to face modern warfare challenges. He also praised the leadership of PAF chief Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar, acknowledging his efforts in making the exercise one of the largest in the region.

Reaffirming his commitment, General Munir pledged to support Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar’s vision of incorporating advanced technologies in cyber, artificial intelligence, IT, space, and specialized innovations.

In his remarks, Air Chief Zaheer Babar commended COAS General Munir’s support for PAF’s modernization efforts and appreciated the participation of 14 countries, believing it would enhance military cooperation in future aerial warfare scenarios.

The PAF chief emphasized the significance of the Indus Shield exercise, describing it as a unique platform for participating air forces to showcase their exceptional skills and operational capabilities.
